What We Did This Weekend – Week 1

in What I did this weekend

I rarely share the every day stuff that happens here, mostly because it’s mostly boring stuff.  I work, the kids play, we all play together, we watch tv, I cook, we eat.  There are chores and bedtime stuff.  It’s just…busy.  Nothing huge, but I realized I’m already forgetting the small moments.  Like how the first time Sophia was on a real swing she totally ate dirt, but now she loves the swing and it’s her favorite park thing.  Or how Holden can’t be bothered with enjoying the swing because he’s too busy watching Sophia (remember, she is his best friend after all).  And there are other moments of the weekend too, where I make vlogs, and clean, and watch movies on Saturday nights.  All these weekends go by so fast, and in such a blur, that I think the best way to remember them is to pick my dusty camera back up and get back to it.

My plan is every morning to share with you our weekend highlights.  They’ll likely be photo heavy, and the photos may sometimes be rough.  The camera hasn’t been used much since the move and it’s taking some practice to get back in to the groove with it.

I figure this can be a two part thing.  Remembering the life we’re living, and learning how to take better photos. These are all SOOC (minus watermarking).  Any constructive feedback on the photos are welcome, but be kind. It’s been a really really really long time since I seriously picked up my camera and tried to take decent photos.  I usually post-process to adjust the lighting or color.  I may still do that later and compare. Who knows.  I’m busy lol.

Saturday was a lazy day of working and laundry and whatnot.  That night Someone and I watched 300.  Just mostly a lazy Saturday.

Sunday morning the weather wasn’t fantastic, but Sophia had been really really good that morning and so it was a reward for some quiet playing in the early morning hours.  I personally think these are pretty good shots for the fact it’s been a long time.  Thank goodness for it being completely overcast, but bright.

These photos make me happy, not just because I am glad I picked my camera back up but also because they show so much of their personality.

Alena!! Your kids are GORGEOUS!!! They have infectious smiles and you definitely captured them!

I think it’s really important to capture the every day, even if the pictures aren’t great. They’re still memories. So high five to you for busting out the camera!

I seriously can’t believe how big they are getting! It’s not easy juggling 2 kids and a DSLR these days is it? Great job!
